Finally "done"

Post by blue68 »

Yeah... The 390 fired right up today after pouring some gas into the carb, and it hasnt skipped a beat since. Put everything on it, and put it in time. 10 BTDC with premium gas. Truck has no mufflers and sounds like a tractor, but the engine is beautiful. I will try to have pics by the end of the week. I could not be happier. All I have to do now is bleed air out of steering sector, align front axles (extreme toe in right now), exhaust system, and bleed a little more air out of the brakes. Then it will be done mechanically. Tranny shifts good. Runs great. I took it around the block a few times and that FE is stronger than a garlic milkshake. If you breathe on that gas peadal it'll get up and go. Strongest vehicle i've ever driven. As soon as I can grab some batteries, I'll try to get some pics!

I looked at your cardomain site and your truck is coming along great. I'm not usually for taking out a 460 and putting in a 390, but in your case I think it was the right decision. It looks great in there.

Looks gooood! It definitely looks better than new. It is awesome that it lit right off and ran great. That is not an accident....that is skill.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. Yeah, it'll get dirty because it will carry me to school every day, rain or shine. I'll try to keep 'er clean though.
