seat belt fastener
What size is the "star" bit that holds seat belts to the mounting point? Does it vary over the years, or from make to make?

re: seat belt fastener
The "star" is called a Torx and I think it is a T30 or maybe a T25. I had mine out a few times but can't remember the exact size. I just know which one to grab. If you are buying one from a parts store I'm sure they will let you bring it back if it doesn't fit. And no, I don't believe it varies.

re: seat belt fastener
Funny you should ask that, 'cause my Torx bit is sitting right here by my computer, stripped out. I ruined it a while back trying to remove the seatbelts, and then brought it home so I could try to find a replacement.
It's a T47.

re: seat belt fastener
Thanks. I was at Sears the other day and saw some torx bits, with the black finish metal like they were for impacts. They were pricey, but I probably ought to go pick up a set.

It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Sears has 45, then it skips to 50. Guess I need to look elsewhere.

I have the Craftsman set and the 50 on my set fits the seatbelts perfectly, Just can't get them to brake loose.
