power windows
I did a search, and it was inconclusive aside from a good source to spend alot of money for a part that won't fit without warrantee voiding modifications.
SO! has anyone figured out a solution to power windows that won't take 30 golzillion dollars? I have a friend with a 66 chevy who used the regulator and motor out of some kind of station wagon's back glass, but after checking his stuff out, I found that it wouldn't work for our application. I also checked into the Autoloc and that other generic plastic drive unit.....not too excited about them.
I was thinking about possibly building my own, using existing parts, but would rather just bolt something in. any suggestions?

I know LMC sells a kit for 150 bucks I belive their made by Spal.

I don't have the pics on my work computer but I have them at home, I will post them as soon as I get a chance. What I did was use some 89 mustang power window motors and modified the stock crank gear to house those motor I also kept the coil spring in place to help assist the motor when the window goes up, I only paid 5 dollars per motor and a few hours of my time.

I found some pics. Here I welded to gears together to make them reach the crank gear.
Here is the motor already mounted with the bracket already welded.
Here is the back,its kinda ugly looking but it will not be visible when installed.
Here it is on the door, it look's like it came from factory that way.

Yeah Marz... how bout a tech write up. Can you do a step by step for those of us who are a little slow? Maybe even some before pictures so we can get more of an idea what you did?

What about wiring just hook it into a switched 12v supply? or hot all the time. Do you need some sort of a modulator?

it would apear that it is a simple reversable motor, which will require a simple switch that reverses the polarity when you press one way or the other. one positive and one negative going into the switch, then positive and negative coming out of the switch going to the motor.
unless it's the kind of motor that the case is the ground and the 2 wires are the positive leads that when power is supplied to one or the other, that is the way the motor turns.

I need to remove this setup to get some better pictures for you guy's.to mount the motor you will have to cut the stock mounting location that the crank handle used to mount to to make room for the new mount for the electric motor.For the switch you will have to get a switch that reverses the power or you can also run a relay. I wish I had time to do a tech article on this for you guys but I have been so busy with other projects that barely have time to sleep.
