Woodgrain under insterment panel

Post by lazyj70 »

Where can a guy get the wood grain under the insterment panel-the woodgrain that the steering column goes through. :hmm: Have checked the usual places LMC, Dennis Carpenter, Chuck's Trucks

There are two shades of that stuff. A light tan shade, that looks like maple, and a dark brown that looks like walnut.
What color did you want?

I'm gonna guess it's the walnut because it's pretty dark.

You're on your own with those...AFAIK they're not being reproduced. Those are actually thin pieces of aluminum with the woodgrain attached to them. I suppose you'd either have to keep your eyes open on E-bay (they come through there all the time) or try to find some simiar-looking contact paper and make them yourself.

I know where you can get one if you are still looking for that piece.
If at first you don't succeed. Get another beer.

I help out at the local junk yard. There is one of those in a truck here. It is in very good condition. Do you know how to get it off without hurting it? Tell me how to take it off. It is the darker wooden color. It won't be until later in the week, but I'll get it if you really want it?

You have to remove all the dash knobs and switches. The bezels are what holds the trim piece on. As I recall you need to loosen the two bolts under the steering colum as well. Then the piece just come off. It's not glued on or anything.
