73-79 factory ac in a 67?

Post by jbrown414 »

I looked through posts and didn't see anything about this. This is really just to see if it is possible and I haven't tried it myself. Just wondering if the factory ac from 73-79 would go into a 67 truck. I know the setups are way different than 68-72. If possible, has anyone attempted it? How much modification would need to be done? Post is open to any kind of opinion. Thanks.

Dashes changed entirely. Do not know if 73-79 dash would even fit a 67-72. Would have to remove the 67 dash and install other. Seems to be a big project, but probably not beyond a skilled metal worker's capability. Electrical would also have to change.

I know that the f600 and f700 in 73 and 74 had a 68-72 dash in them.

That would require a LOT of work to install. The A/C setup on the newer truck is built into the firewall. I'm not saying you can't do it if you're determined enough, but considering there are much easier options, I'd investigate those first.

I really don't think you would have to change the dash. The ones i've seen are a firewall engine compartment piece of fiberglass molded box. you would have to cut a medium size hole in the firewall to get the box to fit to the firewall. What i think you would have to worry about is engine compartment space. would that box fit and not hit the engine? or interfear with the inner fender and hood hinge. what you could do is get the box and hold it in there to see how it would fit. the compressor condensor wiring and air ducts would be easy i would think. you would also need the deluxe controls from a 68 -72
