Would that tachometer work okay?

What's involved in hooking one up, would it be a nightmare?

It will work fine, for many years. Very easy to hook up. Perfect for on top of the steering column, won't block the cluster (except for the odometer). I've got the old Sun mini Super Tach II on mine.

Yeah, I've been wanting a tach but I want as small of one as I can get. I really like the stock look so I don't want a huge one with a shift light and gizmos. That one looks pretty good James.

I was thinking about trying to mess with the mount, if I could flip the mount around, and put a U-bolt on it, I thought I'd put it on my rearview mirror. If not I was going to just stick it on the dash ontop the dash speaker(It's already all messed up there)

By the looks of it, I'd say you have to drill holes into the steering wheel shaft, or put a U-bolt on it to put it on the steering wheel, U-bolt wouldn't be bad, I'd just tilt it over to the side so it didn't obstruct my view of the speedometer, though I don't really want to drill a hole into it, I think most of this stuff is original..

Speaking of the interior, what's a square metal box, rounded sides, about 1" thick with only two little wires running off of it, whatever it is, the truck runs okay without it and I think all it's accessories work fine.

As for the little box, I'm not sure, where was it mounted? As for the tach on the column you can use a large hose clamp (the bracket has a provision for it) It's easy and looks fairly clean, although there has to be something even better. It's what I've always used.

Ty-Rap cable ties or a big hose clamp, that's all you need to mount the bracket. The tach will not hide the speedometer.

This is one of the benefits of being a machinist. :D
I had open holes I needed to fill so I made this.
I think the hose clamp is the best idea. My buddy had 3 gauges on the column of his '68 mustang, with one clamp, and it worked great.

Do you need to use Tach Adaptors with these?

Adaptors? I don't understand. You mean to hook it up? No, these tachs are a simple 4-wire hookup.

Good to know you don't need one. Thanks!

That adaptor is for a distributor-less ignition. Our engines have a distributor, so no adaptor is needed.
