Headers & Power Steering
I want to put power steering on my 69 F-100 and I want to put headers on as well. My question is do the make headers for manual steering and one for power steering or are they the same. Thanks for any infomation. Jimbo

re: Headers & Power Steering
They're the same. All the power steering hardware is up front of the engine and shouldn't affect header installation. However, I HAVE heard reports of some people having problems installing headers on trucks equipped with Bendix-style power steering boxes, instead of the common Ford/Saginaw box. Your '69 probably doesn't have the Bendix box unless it was swapped in by a previous owner, so you should be OK.

Donno, still could have the Bendix box, it was phased out of production instead of a drop dead cutoff.
My understanding is the DynoMax headers will hit the Bendix ps box unless you bang the sheet out of it.
Have also heard that the Headmans cook the starter even better than the other brands do.
Headachers, got a love 'em!

re: Headers & Power Steering
I had a 68 with a 460, and the only place my headers give me trouble was the frame on the passenger side. BTW they were dynomax.

re: Headers & Power Steering
I have factory ps in my 68 and the 302 which wasn't offered in that year. I also have the dynomax headers and also only had issue with the passenger side frame. I had to order mine for a 69 with a 302. I love them!

re: Headers & Power Steering
The issue with the steering box interference is only with the FE I think.
