blue or black dash? and elec windows

Post by cathynkeith »

first off, I have new black dash installed pics below (it was purchased in 1986 from local ford dealer for $150.00 came with truck) I plan on doing the interior in blue and tan. I have a blue cover lay that must be glued on (i hate to do that) do these work very well, do they stay down? Maybe I could sell/trade origional to someone that has a cracked one that I could use the coverlay on.

Also, has anyone installed power window kit from LMC? Does it work well?

Nice. Love looking at your truck. ...that hood gap line on rear pass. side/ hood to fender gap - the one you'll "have to live with" I would talk to your guy to see if he can finesse that for you with a good shim between hinge and hood or something. With a truck this nice, it's a detail.....
When do you expect to start breakin it in? As for dash, stock will be best IMHO.

hey jz thanks, in pics hood in not installed correctly since it will be removed soon (hopefully) for engine install. We are going to work on problem then. I am leaning to stock pad to, under dash a/c will be black so may look good when done.

That's a big gap in the cowl! The hood can be raised at the hinge, the bolt holes are slotted.

Light are from LMC $37.44 each, blue bulbs 16.19 each. I also have half moon chrome covers installed (not in that pic) $7.44 set

I have yet to turn them on, no motor/trans yet, still paying fo them.
I am waiting to see if I will have to install the hd harness because they are halogen.

Note: I had to cutout the back of the h/l housing to make them fit.
Instructions/description say nothing about this.

Thanks for the info
I think your bulbs are the H4 type wich is good cause you will
be able to get them at any auto parts.
This is what I had my eyes on but there to much money.
I can always save money if I really want them.

That grille looks sweet with those head lights. I would stay with the stock pad or dye the one you have. I wouldn't glue anything to it.

I used Dupicolor vinyl paint on my door panels and no one would ever know. They look like factory black panels and they used to be green. Maybe they have the color blue you need. So far the paint has held up fantasticaly. I would recomend it to anyone. I was going to post pics but they are on my computer at home and I'm at work now.
