Ok, here we go again...I just bought another '67!

Well, I bought another truck today....I can't help myself! I think it's a sickness! This one's a '67 F250 2WD SWB Camper Special. It's a project truck, but other than an engine and tranny it's all there. This thing is RUST-FREE! The cab corners and front cab mounts are perfect, and the bottom sides of the cab and box are almost NOS! I wasn't really looking to buy this, but I stumbled upon it a couple days ago, and after talking with the owner today, I ended up cleaning out my 'truck funds' account and gave him $350 for everything.

I just posted a bunch of other pictures and the details of how this came about to a new update page:

http://www.fordification.com/my67-p37.htm

Let me know what you think. :D

OH...my truck project kinda stalled over the past couple months while I've been trying to master the art of MIG welding, but that's no longer an issue. This project just went into high gear! :woohoo:

Well Keith I must say thats a very very nice find.I like it!By the way i have decided to take my money and get me a good lil daily driver truck and then find me a 67-72 without an engine and tranny like yours to fix up,that way i can do it slow and right. But i love the truck you found its awsome!

Heck, this truck even has a dent-free chrome grille and headlight doors. The only problem is, there was a dealer-installed A/C setup, and the freakin' dealer actually drilled holes in the grille's up-down support bars (between the horizontal ribs) to mount the condensor...3 on each side! :cuss: Not sure what (if anything) I can do about those. I'll post some pics next weekend.

I got one good right-side inner fenderwell from Chris and the one sitting on the hood in the back in the pic above is the left side, and has no rust. It'll replace the reproduction inner fender I was planning on using.

One thing that I found interesting is the fact that it's a SWB F250 2WD. I don't think I've ever seen that particular configuration before, and especially not as a Camper Special. But it's definitely a CS...the emblems are gone, but you can see where they were mounted. I'm going to have to do some more research into this.

So has anyone else ever heard of this particular configuration?

OMG! You are a LUCKY MAN! I am so jealous. That was a steal, and a Great find seeing as how that is a rare truck! Great work! Is that frame just recently painted also? Looks sick. Drop in a 460 and make it one bad towing rig for all your projects.

OK, I've been doing a little research, and this seems to be a truck that isn't supposed to be. According to everything I can find, Ford did not offer the Camper Special in a shortbox...either as an F100 or an F250. (Remember that '67 was the last year of the F100 Camper Special.) The body on this truck is definitely a Camper Special, from what I was able to see during my initial inspection. However, it just dawned on me that the missing Camper Special emblems on this particular cab were mounted on the cowl...something not done until '70. The '67-'69 Camper Special emblems were mounted on the lower part of the front fenders. However, this is definitely a '67 cab. This truck also has the factory in-frame auxiliary tank setup, although the tank itself is missing, but it does have the switches for the tanks. And this truck has all 8-lug wheels, and the title DOES show it as an F250, but I neglected to check out the VIN tag on the door to make sure it matched the numbers on the title.

I'm definitely going to have to compare the serial number stamped on the frame with that on the VIN tag. I'm also going to run the VIN through Ford to see what the say about how this truck is supposed to be equipped.

This is strange! :hmm:
==========================================

EDIT: I take that back...the CS emblems WERE mounted on the cowl in '67. They were moved down to the lower front fender for '68 and '69 models, and then back up to the cowl for the '70-'72 models.

So this IS most definitely a CS cab. The paint on the outside of the cab matches the paint on the inside of the cab and firewall. So at the very least, the cab is a '67 Camper Special cab. The paint on the box matches that on the cab, so you'd think that the cab and box are a matched set. However, in '67 Ford did not offer an F250 2WD shortbox....let alone a CS. Heck, the camper would be too small to fit the box!

Now I REALLY want to start comparing numbers. The only thing I can think of (and this is kinda stretching the speculation) is that a previous owner swapped the F250 body onto an F100 frame, and then added the F250 8-lug suspension. Sounds like I'm definitely going to have to check out the number on the frame.

Seems like a great deal...You know,in the sixties people ordered vehicles with some strange configurations....station wagons with four speeds,...big flashy convertibles with six cylinders...I wonder if it's possible that this thing could have been special ordered....Usually when a truck is fixed up with a hodge-podge of donor parts, the owner didn't bother to match the original paint scheme...They just painted the thing black or red and put it to work....I'll be interested to hear of your findings...If perchance the vehicle is numbers-matching,you may have found a real treasure...

As I was reading I thought swb was a typo, then you mentioned it again. I couldn't really tell in the picture by the angle. Geez, maybe you have something super rare. I think It's a shame to part out a truck that nice. I know the parts would go well on your project, but maybe if you took a day to put the front end back on you could sell it and make a handsome profit to help finance your build. Just my 2 cents
Anyway nice score.

WAY worth the money! That truck is clean, dry, and straight. What are your visions of it's possible future? Resto? It may be a rare order like willowbilly said. F 250s haul nicely, it might make a nice sister ship for your present project  .

That sb Camper special still has me intrigued....It'll be interesting to find what the bottom of the box looks like....Maybe holes for a fifth wheel attachment?....

As I read this I was going to reply that I didn't think there was a CS SWB, but I'm glad I read on. I bet it's already been modified by someone, and I can assure you I wouldn't want to ride in a CS swb with the stiff rear and heavy axles. I say take what you need for your truck and go for it!

It will be interesting to find out if it has had the frame shortened or is just a pieced together truck on a shortbed F-100 frame. I think the F-100 springs with the big axles would be cool, but then I am kind of an F-250 guy.

Oh and by the way, I have a factory F-250 shortbed in my yard, but it has 4 doors. I'm going to win some money on that bet some day.
