Blue Armrests for a 1968

Post by erikhillard »

I would like to get the stock armrests for my 1968 Ranger.

From what I've read here people aren't happy with the quality of LMC armrests. But Dennis Carpenter seems to only carry black ones.

Is there another vendor that carries the blue ones? I've seen some on eBay too but they look pretty beat up.

Here's a pic of my current armrests...

Yeah I have heard that about LMC's, but that seems to be the only one making colors. I don't know what is wrong with the ones they sell. I would be curious to know. If you go that route then give us some feedback on them.

I don't know what armrests are currently installed in my truck. Will the stock ones cover that whole area? I'm worried a PO drilled a new hole to the right to install those armrests.

Looks like compared to mine you may be alright. Here is a pic of mine so maybe you can see. Don't know if it will help much.

They are painted?? That sounds lame.
Maybe I should just go with the black ones from Carpenter.

I have LMC armrests on my truck. They are about 2 weeks old. I went to LMC yesterday and they replaced the right side one, the finish was flaking off.

I got home last night and noticed that the finish was flaking off of the left one.

Im considering making some wood ones myself and getting my money back.

If I was going with a different color I would buy black and dye my own. Just make sure you use the vinyl dye and prep them real good. But they take a beating always getting flexed by leaning and puling on them. A dash pad is easier to dye since you never use other than to collect dust on.

What about taking what they sell you and re upholstering it in the same material just a diferent color?

Beats having a dye rub or flake off.

They are like the ones that LMC sells from what I have heard. They are just dyed.
