My instrument cluster lights don't work!

Post by mjhaltom »

The illuminating lights that are on with the headlights do not work. I have changed the bulbs. The warning lights, turn signals and bright/dim headlight indicators work, but no dash lights. Any ideas? My dad said they quit working i the seventies, but I would like to see them work this century! The fuses are all good too.

I agree, most likely it's with your headlight switch. On the backside of the switch there's something that looks like a spring....these will break causing you to loose power to the dash lights. Make sure yours doesn't look like this:

Opposite the electric plug on the switch you will find a small button. Press button while pulling and giggling the light knob. The knob and shaft should come out as an whole. Then you can remove the burr holding the switch in, drop assemble down, and get access to disconnect the plug.
