Electric windows and locks...

Post by yellow1972 »

Does anyone know of a diagram or the procedures to installing electric windows and locks into a '72 f-100?

A good place to start would be to pick up a copy of either Street Rodder or Rod & Custom magazine. I know these mags are mainly for hot rodders but they are FULL of how-to's and advertizing for all kinds of aftermarket goodies that will easily be adapted to ol' Henry's trucks.

I've been installing electric windows in old mustangs for years. I just splice later model taurus motors to the stock regulators where the crank gear used to be and use aftermarket switches from the parts store. It takes some fabrication skills and I haven't tried it on a ford truck yet so it would be uncharted territory.

I bought that kit from NPD and it was mistakenly listed to fit '67-'72. I had to do a little creative bending and shorten two of the spacers that mount the motors to make it fit. The arms from the motors were hitting the division bars. Other than that, everything's great, the swithches fit (with minor modification) where the window cranks were.
