It's actually VERY simple. I have some pics of the clutch/brake pedal assemblies out, but it's kinda hard to make out the details that I'd need to point out to you from them. I'll be in the shop all day on Saturday taking pics, so I'll take disassemble one of them and take some good closeups to show you how to do that.

Does your truck have a clutch pedal?

Here's a good site I found on reworking the brake and clutch pedals. Some of the detail may be a little different, but I found it very close to what I remember when I replaced the bushings in my truck. The clutch spring was a bear and I still do not have it installed properly. My clutch pedal does not come all the way out. Next time, I will remove the whole assembly if I can.

OK, I have the new tutorial composed and posted. Check it out and let me know if I've forgotten anything or need to make anything a little more clear:

I picked up a set of bushings today from FORD.The only place I could find em up here.$ 3.00 a peice for 4 of them correct ?I am hopeing these will solve the problem.Although they are only plastic. My pedals seem quite worn. They are both slanted towards the gas pedal, and when you step on either one,the other one moves somewhat as well.Wish me luck.I'll do it tomorrow.

After reading Keiths page on this.I figured I'd give it a whirl tody.Wifes at work, and I don't start till 4;30.Oh,and 1/2 hour is a good estimate on this by the way Keith  .I got the pedals out etc, then discovered that the aluminum inserts in the bracket are shot  .One was broken in half, and the other has about 1/4 inch play in it.So I ended up dropping the column to remove the bracket. The clutch side hole is in almost 2x the size it should be.What do you guys think my chances of finding a good bracket with firm alum. inserts at the local pick a part are :? ?Its off the road till then,so hopefully I can find a good one.Does anyone know if the 73-79's are the same?I should also ask if the auto. brackets and the manual brackets are the same?

On our trucks the bracket is the same for trucks with or without a clutch. I'd say as long as you can find a truck of this vintage, chances are the piece you need is good. In the dozen or so trucks I've parted out over the past year I haven't seen a single one that was bad, actually. Yours in an exception to the rule. Once those plastic bushings go and it's metal-on-metal, it starts wearing away pretty quickly.

I don't know if the '73-'79 generation's bracket will fit....however, I do know that generation's pedals will fit ours, so I suppose it's possible.

I've got several of those sitting around the shop that I could let you have, unless you were looking for an excuse to go junkyarding. ;) PM me if you're interested.
