don't forget to disconnect it from the battery first. make sure you keep the spring to.

Be careful and don't do what I did. Break the little plastic clips that hold the horn ring into the slots. They get pretty fragile. For some strange reason though, the previous owner had an extra one stashed inside of the truck with all of the other emergency spare parts. (Filters, belts, fuses, tow rope.) The typical stuff for an old truck. Still looking for the duck tape.

Most of the Ford truck suppliers, e.g., LMC part 45-0450 or Obsolete Ford Part or MAC's part C2DZ-13A808-A, have them (Horn Index Plate). I bought 4 at Sanderson's Ford the last time I visited. They are pretty common and seems that the new ones do not hold up like OEM. In the AZ heat, the plastic dies quickly and you have to replace them to have a horn.

hey blue, you know you guys have it good for sheetmetal and rust free bodies, but yo sure pay the price on soft parts! i guess there's a trade off for everything.bluef250 wrote:Most of the Ford truck suppliers, e.g., LMC part 45-0450 or Obsolete Ford Part or MAC's part C2DZ-13A808-A, have them (Horn Index Plate). ezernut9mm, the older vehicle dashes general cracked within 4 or 5 years. Nothing you could do except keep the sun of them. The auto makers have changed plastics and the newer dashes are not nearly as bad. In Phoenix, I was lucky to get 3 years from a battery before it expired from the heat under the hood. Plastic nuts and such parts generally just fall apart on the older vehicles. But the older junkers abandoned in the desert seem to last forever, until they fall apart from the bullet holes.
