Hood seal

Post by ratfink »

I have the new seal that goes between the hood and cowl. My question is does the "L" shaped lip go on top or the bottom? My old one is completly gone.
Thanks, Ratfink

Looks like an upside down L.

It's actually called "cowl lacing." Who would have guessed! Anyhow, here's a photo of what it should look like. This is on my 67. I can't remember if I bought it from Dennis Carpenter or LMC but the fit wasn't very good. I had to really stretch it to get a few of the clips into the holes. Take a few photos if you get a chance as this question comes up from time to time.

Yours is nice and straight, jor. I got mine from LMC and this is what it looks like. I'm pretty disappointed. I wish I had gotten a straighter one. This one was all balled up in a plastic bag when it arrived. Does Dennis Carpenter take the time to package theirs better?

Hey longbed, your looks like really soft rubber. The one I have is stiff, and in a roll in the bag.

I should have re-read that before I posted it. I was talking about the cowl lacing, I swear.

Yeah, the one I got was pretty soft. If I ever get that like new paint job, I'll get a new one that is nice and straight.

As I recall, the DC one came loosely rolled up. I had to stretch it pretty hard to get it in a few of the holes and I expected it to fail but it's been on there several years and looks about like it did when I put it in.
