Grounds
I am still working on getting my charging system up and working properly. I am in the process of checking all the grounds. Where does the chassis typically ground to the frame? What gauge wire should be used for engine to chassis and chassis to frame grounds.

re: Grounds
I ground the firewall to the engine and the engine to the frame. I also put a wire from the bottom of the firewall to the frame.

Our ford ground battery negative to some where on the engine just under and behind the Alternator area. Then engine To Firewall.
I guess it don't hurt to ground to the frame from the firewall.

Here's a photo of my braided connection from the engine to the cab and another of the negative battery cable to the engine (as rj said, right under the alternator). I think you can get the braided strap at Autozone or Checkers.

re: Grounds
battery cables should be a minimum of AWG 4 but i always use AWG 2 or larger.the neg cable must be at least the same as the pos. but can be larger ,never should be smaller.same goes for the cable going from sol. to starter, can be slightly smaller than the one on the batt. but not larger.
if you have a AWG 2 on your battery you can use a 4 to the starter but not the reverse.
the other wire grounds are typically 10 AWG.

re: Grounds
The same amount of current (amps) flows thru the ground as thru the positive one. That is why you should have the same size ground cable as the positive one at the battery.

re: Grounds
I would not go to the valve cover. I would go to an intake bolt. I plan to put a longer stud on my 460 in the back so I can put another nut on it.
