best door weatherstrip cement?

Anyone have suggestions for a real good weatherstrip cement for holding the stripping around the doors? Tried a few things including 3M weatherstrip cement and not too impressed.

i used 3m general trim adhesive. i comes in an arisol can. i barely used any so i could remove the weatherstrip when i painted the truck in the future and it is working real good.

yea that yellow stuff has to kind of setup before it really starts to work. if you use it sparingly it works better than if you use alot in one spot.

I used Permatex Super Weatherstrip Adhesive 80. It's also yellow. The stuff's kind of a pain to put on but it holds up well.

As i call it Yellow death because if you get it somewhere you dont want it, it will be the death of you trying to get it off!

I like the thick rubber cement from the drug stores. Ross brand IIRC. The one with the little brush.

I always use the 3m brand in the tube that is black. I don't like the looks of yellow when it gets on the rubber if your not real careful.

Use 3M Weather Strip Adhesive.
Its a contact type of cement so you have to apply it and allow some time for it to 'tack up' but IMO its the best product to use for door seals.
Some folks dont like it cuz it can get messy is your not carefull.
You cant rush it. You gotta do just a few feet at a time before applying more.

I've probably been impatient with the 3m stuff in the past. I've never had a mess, the weatherstripping just ends up falling off a few months later. I recently tore a cab down for painting and the stripping was held on with some sort of black adhesive. That stuff was really on there, but I could still peel the weatherstrip off without it ripping. Wish I new what the PO used.

I just pulled mine off and it was on with a black 3m adhesive. If I had been going to reuse it then it would have tore, but since I am replacing it with new then it came off just fine.

the ends of it are suppose to end under the sill plate on the bottom of the door opening on the cab. that way it holds it from coming off on the ends.

I know that. In the past I've had weatherstrip tore off from drunk passengers falling out and even had a girlfriend tear it off and try to use the weatherstrip as a shoulder belt. She was drunk too. Maybe my problem isn't the adhesive.
