Red tint for 'clear' lenses??
I did a quick search and didn't find anything on this so I apologize if its been discussed before........
Is there an effective way to tint a clear light lense so its red??? I'm just thinking that a little re-wiring of the cargo light would make for an easy third brake light conversion. But the lense must be red to be legal (not to mention effective of course.!!!)
Any thoughts/comments appreciated.
Thanks!

my stepmother works at an optical place and the lens for some sunglasses start out clear, she always just bought rit (dye) and heated the the water and dye up to almost boiling tempurature and put the lenses in for about 5-10 mins depending on how dark you want to dye it. i havent tried it personally but its worth a try.

Why not just put a red bulb in it? They do the clear marker lights with tinted bulbs. Unless it is illegal in your state.

I used some clear red Tamiya model paint to paint my light red. Works great. Cheap too.

you can even go to your local truckstop and buy lightbulb "rubbers" that slip over the bulb itself and come in many colors.
