blower motor in the 67

ok i just went out turned the key and turned on the blower to see if it was ok enough to start driving the truck to school and i get a high spinng metal scraping sound.... that never goes away... whats the cause of it or can i fix it or should i just get a new one?

it rubbing on something. it could be something in there that is making it do that or the thing need the squirrel cage adjusted further away from what its hitting. if it is unable to be adjusted any further then the bushing must be worn out and the motor will not hold the cage in the right place so it will scrape something. if the bushing are going to where you can't fix it you possibly need a new one.

how do i chekc the adjustment?

could be the bearing in the motor too. you need to remove it and take a look.

take it out of the heater box . and see if there is anything in there. also look for any shiny spots where it has been grinding against something. to make the adjustment there is a allen head screw in the center of the cage that holds the cage to the motor shaft. it won't need much adjustment so don't move it very far when you do.

In my experience, it's always been the bearing. Oftentimes, the noise will go away if you keep running it. If not, pick up another motor.

ok guys thanks for the help last night when attempting to check the berring my hands gave way and i droped the motor on the cement floor in the gargage causing the motor to break so i guess it is time for a new one so thanks for the help
