bucket seat fuel tank covers
i have seen the forum pic of one of these . what are these things made of carpet? or were they a floor mat material. i think i found one that is vinyl. also what is the shape of them. this one looks like the shape of a bak window kind of it is angled at the sides. and it seems to be full cab width. i found it in the bed of the truck. this may have been something homemade because the back of it is plywood. and this truck had a bench seat in it. what do you guys know about this subject?

I would have thought they would have been cardboard backed and vinyl covered, but never seen one in person.

re: bucket seat fuel tank covers
i know ford made them for the 66 as i have one, it covers the whole back of the cab from window to floor, has several pockets and is installed with screws with countersunk washers.when i got the truck it had a bench seat, when i put the new cab on i used buckets.no cardboard or plywood.
i think the 65-66 rangers had carpeted ones, never saw one in person so i cant give any details.

you can ford a river or stream and get to the other side, if you dodge it you will not, and if you drive a chevy to the levee it will run dry and the music will die.

If it's got plywood in it, it's not factory.

re: bucket seat fuel tank covers
Whoops...sorry. That particular thread is in an Archives section, to save while I was doing some pruning. I'll get it moved back in the near future, when I get some forum maintenance done. Here's the contents of my post in that thread:
======================================================
Here's the only pic I have. This came from someone who contacted me a while back asking if these trucks were ever available with buckets. When I told him they did, he sent pics of the brackets and the fuel tank cover. I spent several days exchanging e-mails with him, helping him out. I told him that they WERE factory and made him an offer for the brackets, rear cover and trim. He decided "they were worth more than my offer" and that he was going to E-bay them. Turns out he got $5 less than my offer!
![Image](http://www.fordification.com/board/71CS_fueltank-cover.jpg)
....and here's a pic saved from Ebay of the trim:
![Image](http://www.fordification.com/board/behind-the-seat_cab-trim.jpg)
I believe the bottom side of the tank cover was just held down with Velcro.

I would like to have a set of the trim that holds it in at the top. I may have to do some snooping to see if I can locate a set. What is a good set worth other than what someone is willing to give?

re: bucket seat fuel tank covers
I was really hoping to find a set of those too, mainly to accent the behind-the-seat storage compartment...but I'm not going to hold my breath looking for a good set. ![Surprised :o](./images/smilies/icon_surprised.gif)

I agree. Hopefully around here I can luck up on a set that no one knows what they are worth.FORDification wrote:I was really hoping to find a set of those too, mainly to accent the behind-the-seat storage compartment...but I'm not going to hold my breath looking for a good set.
