Post 96 Seat anyone?

Post by jbanks »

I have the opportunity to buy a bench seat from a 98 or so F150 and I'm wondering how the fit might be. I understand I would have to fab-up some brackets, but I'm wondering about any problems beyond that. Would they sit to high or too low or too wide or whatever?

Normally from what people say is they are too thick and your too close to the steering wheel. Brackets will have to be fabbed up.

I thought any Ford truck seat could be put onto the stock brackets. 460 Crew just put one in his truck.

I don't know for sure if the stock tracks will bolt directly to the new seat or not?

The bumpside brackets will bolt up to the factory seats up through '96. After removing the tracks from your newer seat you'll have to drill out the threads on the seat frame so the studs on the bumpside tracks can go up into the holes and be secured with a nut. The '97-later seats will require custom brackets.

I'm all over the custom brackets needed for the job. I'm just wondering how they would work once I got them fabbed in to place? Wondering if they're too wide or too thick or would sit too high.
