Stereo Install

Post by GreaseMonkey »

I am looking to install a modern style CD player into my truck. I have seen the DID YOU KNOW? bar talking about the Merta Volvo kit to be adapted. Has anyone ever done this? Anyone have any pix? Thanks.

Here's a few photos of mine. Its mount is held in with the flexible tabs but it holds well.

That looks awesome. Did you just have to cut enough to make room for the cd player?

There is no cutting involved you just pull out your old radio bend the two tabs back into the dash drill two holes and slide the radio in(after you wire it of course) FYI this was acually the question that brought me to Fordification

I cut out the ears. I would recommend you bend them back if you can still slide it in. That way the purists here won't excoriate you for butchering your dash!

you can ford a river or stream and get to the other side, if you dodge it you will not, and if you drive a chevy to the levee it will run dry and the music will die.

I found bending to be the better idea. That way I could create a metal tray that anchors on the two tabs to support the stereo unit. Of course, you don't NEED that, most units are happy to just hold on by the meager support offered by the front panel, but I always hated that installation.

Have you seen my baseball?

My dash has been molested already, so I plan on welding in a spot fot thr radio so that it doesn't stick out like the Plastic kits do. This will also make it harder to steel.

If I ever get a title and a warm day I could start on this thing.
