R/H high beam

Post by greenies72 »

The right hand side high beam is a dead player on my 71 although the low beams work on both sides. I have done the obvious and changed out the headlamp. What's next? Also, in a possibly related issue I have no dash lights. I read another thread which suggested that this could be caused by a bad headlight switch. Is this a part you can get at the local parts store?

Does not sound like your light switch is bad. Check the harness on the right side, particularly the plugs. Clean all contacts and use dielectric grease when you reassemble.

On the dash lights check the fuse. Also, both bulbs could be burnt out.

if the low beam works, the high should too unless the problem is in the plug or wire.
most trucks i have bought i had to replace the dash light bulbs in.

you can ford a river or stream and get to the other side, if you dodge it you will not, and if you drive a chevy to the levee it will run dry and the music will die.

This may sound ignorant, but if the bulbs look good, i.e. not blackened and the filaments are ok, then shouldn't they be fine? The turn signal indicators work ok, is that a separate circuit?
