healight switch breaker is going bad.

i agree with fordman.
if everything else works , wipers,heater fan ,radio etc. and your battery charges then there is no reason to change the alt. or v.reg.

you can ford a river or stream and get to the other side, if you dodge it you will not, and if you drive a chevy to the levee it will run dry and the music will die.

So, I need to repace the headlight switch? If so, how do I take it out? Thanks

PS- Even with the lights off, the electrical still pulses. I looked at my volt gauge that I hooked up and it still moves back and forth

Reach behind the dash and you will find a button on the light switch. Push the button and pull the knob out. Then undo the bezel ring on the front and the switch comes out the back. Don't break the connector be gentle.

Take the cover off the Voltage regulator and see if one of the relays is moving like that. If it is it can be the regulator or the alternator or wiring. If it is not cycling then there is a bad wire or ground that is heating up and cooling off from too much current flowing through it.

I got a headlight switch from my parts truck. I will try putting it in and see if that helps.

if it doesnt work, that does not mean a lot, as the parts truck switch may not be any better than the one you have now.

It surges with the lights off. I am going to get a new voltage regulator. Would this have anything to do with the ground of the voltage regulator. I have painted the radiator support and the bolt that holds the box on. There is some wire that hooks to that bolt.

It very well could be. A ground surge is caused by heating and cooling of a resistance point, the paint under the ground screw or rust in the same place could cause it.

same thing if some of the wire strands in the ground are broken, could be at the ring terminal where it bolts to the core support.

he is saying that the terminal end on the ground wire could be frayed where the wire goes into the connector not giving enough of a ground.
