Crew Cab headliner center trim

Post by Fordfool »

For anyone that might know, is there anything that can be used to replace the center trim on the headliner of the crew cabs? I have really nice stainless trim that goes all the way around the outter edge, but the center piece had been replaced with a garbled piece of plastic. Anyone ran into this yet? I searched, but it came up with 2029 results. Thanks!

I know my brothers 74 has a nasty looking piece of plastic across the center as well. Could it be that it was plastic originaly?

What Fordman said or use the rear back piece out of a reg cab. The ends have to be trimmed down a couple inches and a little rebending to make the curve just right. It's held up by 3 screws if i remember right. Funnny was I was just in it less than an hr ago and I was the one that put it together and I can't remember. sighn I'm getting old.

Cool to know that I can make one work from a regular cab. I have a white painted set that I will look at tomorrow. Thanks for the info. I am gonna see of that chrome paint worx at all. That is about as close to stainless look as I can get.

I tried the crap crome in a can i't came out really ugly and scratched easy, can't remember the brand just to not try it again. I'm sure other brands might work better but i just opted to paint mine all black to blend in with the interior. I'm going to recut another when i redo my other cab and prob take all the pieces to a local chrome shop and see that they can do for me if it's not throught the roof.

Cool to know on the chrome paint. I wanna stick with my stainless so I will have to come up with a stainless middle piece. Either that or maybe it wont look bad with black painted in the middle.
