My new CB

Post by bigman78 »

I went to goodwill to browse and found a Cobra 29 LTD WX Classic CB. It was only $7.50 Ive seen these go anywhere from $50 to over $100 on ebay and online :D I ordered a power cable for it and ive already got an 8' antenna from my dads old 73'. Hopefully it works :maybe:

you can ford a river or stream and get to the other side, if you dodge it you will not, and if you drive a chevy to the levee it will run dry and the music will die.

I just picked up a CB on E-bay too...the one I got is a factory-original Ford piece, used in the dentside trucks (I believe). Only paid $25 for this one. :D

It's only a 23-channel...but it's still cool. Now I just gotta decide whether to put this in the '67 or the choptop.

We had CBs in our cars when I was in high school. I see another trend making a comeback. CBs and 8 tracks together again.

I have the same CB (Cobra 29 LTD WX Classic) In my '88. I have an older one in my Ranger, and have a Uniden 510 pro going in my Durango.
I use a CB all day long at work, so I don't remember them going away :P   .

Well for $7.50 you couldn't even buy a replacement mike if it don't work invest a few bucks and take it to a radio shop and have it checked out. Just about any truck stop worth it's salt has a CB shop close buy. I know there are several in my area

yep. a good noise cancelling mic like an astatic or road king will run 40 to 50 clams by itself. the older 23 channel cb's are actually "outlawed" under fcc regs nowadays. god forbid anyone puts out more than three watts.

Keith,
If I'm not mistaken, that was made by Motorola...they're great talkers.... had one in my '78 Pete and it was about the best I ever had! My driver bought one of the Cobra 29wx, like above and I still have that in my KW.. it's ok, but too much crap on it for my taste  .

If ya really want to make the 29's walk and talk the dog add a stinger board to them. Makes them talk just a connex or galaxy super loud audio. Mine at the moment just has a connex board and the big final in it and it push's 30 watts as is. I have a couple of places i go to they always tell me to turn my radio down and ii say i cant . All i can turn down is the dynamic. All that is is a volume control for the mic. :P

IMO take it to a shop to have it put in it dont cost that much to have it installed.
