I'm so confused(long)

Post by wt4speed#2 »

I'm so confused . I'm trying to wire in the 3g alternator. I pretty much under stand the wiring ,4ga red wire to positive bat. post via the starter solenoid, yellow wire to bat.side of solenoid, light green w/red to ignition or to charge light and black w/ white stripe to stator term on alt. (see 2nd download). Which brings me here,(1st download)the connection (in red sqaure)is application for my truck with exceptions ,I don't have the field relay feeding voltage regulator(deleted by PO). Installing the 3g elimates the need for this plug .The black w/yellow #37(8ga)should connect to the bat. side of the starter solenoid suppling power to the fuse block, the green w/ red #904 can connect to the lt green w/red from the 3g alt going to the charge light, now I have the yellow #654 wich shows going back to the other side of charge light do I connect this to the bat. side of the solenoid. Omit it? Connect it to the yellow wire out of 3g omitting 1 connection at bat side of solenoid.
Feed back,suggestions...corrections
I'm probably making this hard but the yellow wire going back into the main loom has made my day totally non prodyctive. :?

I solved my own problem.

Finally after 2yrs realized I don't have warning lights(who is the idiot now truck had aftermarket mech. temp, oil and amp cluster and all were working) I have gauges and I've figured out what I need to do. I can hook the yellow wire(from main harness)that runs to the gauge in with the yellow wire out of the 3g and to battery side of solenoid. Replace the fuse holder in both the yellow and red wires between solenoid and gauge (PO had wrapped in right side fender loom I didn't even realize they were there)and install4 amp fuses . As for green /red stripe in my application goes to hot in run (not alt light)connect to green w/red out of 3g alt. including the 560ohm resistor ( acts as exciter in leu of light). I think this is correct.

PS this answered my other thread as well concering the 560ohm resistor placement

you can ford a river or stream and get to the other side, if you dodge it you will not, and if you drive a chevy to the levee it will run dry and the music will die.
