rjewkes, have you finished up your install on the 100 amp alternator? I would like to do something similar and wondering how it turned out.
Former owner of 70 LB SportCustom and a 71 SB SportCustom. Looking for a replacement bump!

Haven't even started so far i know i nead a VR 749 (voltage Reg.)outa a 1992 Econoline. It similar but can handle the extra voltage/current.

I was on the Advance auto web site looking at 100 amp alternators. They had various warnings, like pulley change may be required, problems with electrical connectors making a good connection. What brand alternator did you get? I think one of their brands is Palladium. Do you have a part number? And most were not in stock locally, but needed to be ordered. I'll probably need to take an old alt. in and find a good counter guy and match it up that way.

I got Two that look to be original motorcraft pulls that were rebuilt. these'll definitly need new pulleys as they came without.

Fordman As long as it is a VR 749 I don't think it realy matters the year 92 is just the first year that i found with that 100 amp alternator.

one was supposed to be from a 69 cougar and the other from a 79-92/93 Econoline.

will it have a number stamped on it you think or will i have to look at the alt to figure it out. would a conversion van have that on it.
