i used some bailing wire but works the same as a coathanger. its pretty easy.
real fun is pulling several big fat stiff wires thru a long run of conduit and around a few bends.

yes, i've been using a coat hanger wire all morning and it's been a struggle! i'll keep trying. the problem is the new wires bunched together are just too darn thick and won't fit through that narrow space. one issue is the new turn signal switch has an extra wire going to second horn spring/button. that wire is a pretty big gauge as it is much thicker than the other wires.
do you guys recommend tightly taping the entire length of the wires to thread them down or just tape the initial part to the coat hanger?

i attached one wire at a time to the coat hanger and pulled each individual wire through. took me about 30 minutes instead of two hours of struggling and sweating getting all the wires in at once!
boy, am I relieved i finally got those wires through. i haven't had a chance to check on all the turn signal indicators (front and rear), but i did notice that the right turn dash indicator is still lighting up when i turn the running lights on. kid, you mentioned that this means power is coming from another line and that there was something with your front right turn bulb. i recently replaced the entire housing and bulb for my front right turn indicator. could there be some issues with the wires connecting there? i won't be able to check again until tomorrow morning probably, but was wondering if that could be it.
i'm hoping to check tonight on the operation of all the turn signals and brake lights and emergency lights.
so my two questions are:
1. is the power to the steady right dash turn signal due to my changing the front turn signal indicator housing and bulb?
2. why does this new turn signal switch come equipped with an extra horn button and wire? is it for a dentside or something? everything else seems to be the same, just an extra horn button/spring.

I think I just figured out my first question. I tested the brake lights and turn signals tonight when the sun went down so I could see the lights better. As soon as I put my running lights on, the steady right turn signal in the dash came on. The right front turn signal indicator was out while the left and both rear lights were on. I tapped the front right lens a few times with a bit of force and the light comes on...dash light goes out. There's definitely something going on with the wiring on that housing that I replaced. is your turn signal housing grounded properly. the turn signal switches are different from i think mid 69 or 70 and up. they were changed because of the plug under the dash on the earlier models had a single plug wear as the later models had two plugs. if it has only one extra wire it wouldn't be a dent side. if it were a dent side it would have two extra wires for the hazard switch in the dent sides column.

ahhhh, finally. all turn signals, brake lights, and instrument panels are back to working normally. the right turn signal housing and bulb were loose and needed to be grounded tighter. thanks to you all for the help. kid, you provided a lot of great help.
