window fuzzies

trying to install new window fuzzies in my '68 (they are from LMC), how does the little metal "teat" or spike on the end fit into the window? There is no slot in the other window rubber for this weird spike to fit into, and no slot in the metal to slide it into? I thought about just cutting it off? Those who have done fuzzies, did you notice this? Banjo.

There is still part of the old felt in your door . look real close it's a thin strip ,if you feel up inside you'll feel the "teat of the old one there are hole there at least there wer on my '69.

once you get the old piece out you will see the holes in the door.it is much easier to do these with the window completely out but does not have to be done like that. if your window is in, and rolled down, when you install the new pieces, be careful of what you use to put pressure on the fuzzies to push them into the holes.you dont want to break the glass or chip the edge. i use a plastic wedge from my lockout kit, and only press right on the area where the "teat" is located, you will hear it snap in place.

That aside... I thought I read where the later trucks had rubber "wipers" instead of the fuzzies. Will those not retrofit, or do they not make them? It seems the wipers would be a much better way to go??

Supermike, you just think that away because babes are drawn to us fellers what drive Ferd trucks!
Maybe I'm using wrong words to depict these things, as I didn't any see any residue of old parts at all. These are the straight peices that fit horizontally on each side of the window glass as it rolls up and down. On one end, they fit very tightly to the vent wing window, on the other end, they curve up into a light bend and on that very tip is a very sharp metal "tang" (since Teat is distracting Mike) and that's the part I can't figure out fits where, as I see no relief slot or hole.
Are they called anti-rattle strips as opposed to window fuzzies? That have a little clip on the back that pops right into the horizontal part of the door and only seemed to require mild finger pressure, no tool to pop into place. Banjo.

Oh yeah, and I bought these kind I guess because I was probably looking at LMC catalog and selected by year, had I have known rubber would have fit and lasted better, would probably have bought that instead. They seem to fit in easy except for that one part. Without them, there was ALOT of space between the window glass and metal and I thought this might stop some rattling.
Also, doing it while I had the regulator out for a repair and glass laying in bottom of door. Banjo.

I know just what you're talking about. I too was confused in that those little tangs just don't fit. I ran them up the outside of the felt channel and lived happily ever after. I think I cut one off one time too.

So what's the better way to go, if you aren't worried about doing bone-stock... fuzzies or wipes?

The rubber wipes are much better at keeping water out, which is why the factory went that route. If you're not doing a 'correct' restoration, those would be a better choice IMO.

Thanks, Keith... I'm planning to do a "correct" surface restoration, in that everything you SEE will be as correct as I can make it. But when it comes to things like door fuzzies/wipes, electronic points replacements, insulation etc., I'm going to upgrade when I can. I want my truck to LOOK like a 67, but have a few modernized conveniences.
