Help with 67 f-100 Trying to get power. Fixed thanks all
Ok I got this truck home and have been trying to get it running. The battery was dead so I pulled my optima out and stuck in it. I think it may be dead as well so I jumped the truck. I get nothing working. I get what seems to be a good ground throughout the engine and motor bay/fender well/core support. A bad ground was my first thought. I tried other things in the truck. Checked with a test light for power at the fuse panel. I get no power to any fuses. I do get power at the sylenoid (both sides?). It seems as though I am not getting power past the battery to anything else. I have looked at the wiring diagrams here on the site but see nothing for the fuse block itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I guess it is time to get a chilton for a bump now.

Use a good battery to be sure. A dead short in the battery will stop everything even with a jump. Check your battery ground, clean the terminals etc. to be positive you have a complete circuit. Remove both battery cables and check for continuity between them (with the ignition switch on). Power is supplied to the dash from the battery side of the solenoid. If that wire were missing/bad/cut, what you have described would occur.

So the truck is or is not running? I'm not clear on whether it started when you jumped it.
If the truck is running, is it possible your battery is totally dead and since the fuses pull from the battery, it isn't getting charged? The truck would run, but the battery may be totally drained or the alternator might be bad? I know it's possible (but not recommended) to run these trucks without a battery. Seems it would kill your alternator, though.

re: Help with 67 f-100 Trying to get power to anything.
Ironically I was worried about the ground only. Once it started getting dark outside I seen the positive was sparking real faintly. I cut the positive lead and cut the plasitc back reinstalled it and the truck turned over just fine. I was not getting any spark so I checked the power to the dist. and it was good. Cleaned the points and it fired and ran. Not for long since it only running on starting fluid but good enough for tonight. To say the least check the obvious first would have been my best bet. I will tinker with it more later this weekend. Thanks for everyones replies.
