Fuse Panel

Post by alvinator »

Has anyone used an aftermarket fuse panel in conjuction with the main fuse panel? Reason asking, i am watching "Two-guys Garage" on TV and they had a old truck that had more wiring than fuses. He mention a aftermarket 8-fuse panel. You have a hot wire and one wire for ignition and then 7 fuses for up to 20 amps for install accessories on a vehicle. About how much would those run? I am thinking it would be good for my upgraded stereo, air horns, LED lights, driving lights and such...

Wiring mine in in place of the original ones. My panel 10 port cost me with my account at Napa 28.88. PN# BK 7823212

The panel can hold 10 20A fuses so I am putting my Black Yellow wire to it and then pulling everything else off of it.

ok, now i got another question, i see that AutoZone has a 12 circuit fuse block that can possibably replace my existing one and upgrade it. Has anyone done that or would I be spinning my wheels on this and should either redo the whole thing or just get a 8 or 10 circuit add-on for my accessories to add to the truck?

Darn those are pricey. That 12 circuit is nice if you are rebuilding a harness from scratch. The picture is misleading the fuses and the flashers don't come with it I have seen it in the store.

The model that I just bought and that adrianspeeder turned me on too is much simpler and comes in 4/8/10/12 sizes.

The ten that I bought listed for 41.66.

41! Cheeze and crackers. I thought it was 10 or twelve when I got it for the '88 last winter break from school. Course I did buy 300bucks worth of other electrical so it mighta been discounted.

Anyway, actually finished up my wiring today on the '88. Everything is crimped, soldered, and heat shrunk. Any bit of water that manages to get up in there shouldn't be a problem.

1. CB radio
2. Auxiliary reverse light power
3. Air Horn compressor power
4. Air Horn relay
5. HVAC blower (stock wiring melted for some yet unknown reason)
6. 12v power point's in the dash
7. Low beam power
9. High beam power

You can pick up 12 ciruit painless fuse blocks on ebay for between 30-60 bucks.. Just have to keep an eye out.

I have one that I want to use to replace/upgrade the existing fuse block. If I ever start it I'll take pictures and do a write up.
