Yet another turn signal question (and a horn one too)

Alright here is what is going on. I have replaced the turn signal switch, and both of the flashers on my 1970 Ford F100. When i hit the turn signals though, my 4 way (hazard) lights come one. Anyone have any clues on what could cause that? It did this before I replaced the turn signal switch but the turn signal switch was in 3 pieces.

My horn question is this. Can you buy the plug that plugs into the bottom of the Horn relay? If not, does anyone have one in good condition that they are willing to part with? Mine is very corroded and broken and doesnt seem to be making a good connection with the relay.

I've got an old wiring harness that's been butchered up, and I was saving for the wire, in case I needed something. I can snip that connector off for you. PM me your shipping address and it's yours.

I just build my own with 1/4" spade terminals wrapped in electrical tape. as long as you aren't worried about the 'correct look'!

crozetiga, I think me and you, and whoever else wants to come, need to line up our Fords and have a big wrestlin' match with the turn signals....

Thanks for the tips and offers on the horn relay plug. Anybody have a clue on the turn signals? Are some wires crossed somewhere?

When i put in the turn signal switch in i put the wires in the same positions as they were in before in the plug. I wonder if they were in the right place to begin with.

I also noticed that one of the parking lights (I think that what its called-the amber ones under the headlights) works when i turn on the hazards but not when i use the turn signals (which work like hazard). Could something as little as that make the whole system act like that?

The first place to look for problems in the lighting is under the rear. More often than not it can be traced to cracked insulation, broken wires and most often to badly installed/repaired trailer light wiring. I would almost bet there is some sort of feedback causing the problem.

I spent several hours on Sunday tracing wires and checking connections and I finally got the turn signals working!!!! It turned out to be a couple of loose wires up front and a cobweb of wires in the rear that were connecting two separate sets of trailer lights. Now all i have left to go to get my truck licensed is the horn and exhaust. It should be on the road in in week or so. Thanks for all of those who have helped me out so far.
