68 ranger question

Post by dchil67 »

I just found this website and have a question. Does anyone know if there was a 68 ranger with factory bucket seats? The reason I ask is because I have one and the guy I bought it from years ago said he got it with factory buckets.

If anyone can help I would appreciate it......

They most definitely came with bucket seats....there just weren't too many requesting them back then. The buckets were actually Mustang seats with special brackets to mount them to the floor. Does your have the jumper seat between the buckets? Post some pics when you can.

....and welcome to the site and forum. Glad to have you aboard! :D

No jumper seats but it did have a console according to the previous owner. You can see the outline in the carpet. It was broken and thrown away when I bought the truck.Check out the pics below.

Once upon a time it was factory but now she needs a little TLC. I must admit it makes gas tank access quite easy...

Yeah, I've always like those. If anyone knows where I can find those seat brackets, I'd be very interested in them.

If it ever had a console, I'm sure it was something a previous owner fabricated. There was never a factory console offered. At least it's never been mentioned in any of the factory literature that I've seen. Of course, the jump seat hasn't been mentioned either, but I've seen several of those that appear to be identical in appearance, so I'm guessing that it was available. Here's a couple examples:

Are these the same as the early mustang? Can you put the mustang seats in these trucks! Will the brackets work?

I'm attaching a couple of pics of the brackets used to mount the Mustang buckets in our trucks. AFAIK these are not being reproduced by anyone:

The brackets aren't mine... I wish they were! These are just some pics I've saved from here and there online. If I can ever get my hands on a pair. I'll definitely get some blueprints made up so that they could be reproduced.
