"gluing" down new sound dampener

Post by Roodaddy »

Hi folks,
Simple questions...I'm replacing carpet and sound dampener (from NPD) this weekend. The old dampener came up with little trouble due to the lack of adhesive. I assume this was factory as there was some tar-like substance around the edges.

What should I use to hold down the dampener?
What should I use to hold down the carpet to the dampener?

Thanks!

Cheers.

i dont think that was tar, ive always used urethane, its black too, and takes 2 or 3 hours to dry, it comes in a tube like silicone

Some spray adhesive from the local do it yourself lumber center should do it.

i just put sound dampner in my pickup today. I used loctite spray adhesive. You should also invest in some aluminum tape, and VERY sharp scissors or razor, because it is extremely hard to cut through.
