'67 Dash Lighter

Post by jdconnel »

Does the lighter in a 67 have letters on it like the rest of the knobs or is it blank? My bezel is missing, and I've found conflicting answers on the net.

Hmm, the one's I've seen do say Lighter. :hmm:

There's no bezel on the dash, it's on the ring of the lighter.

:yt:

The actual lighter recepticle does not have a bezel... it's attached to the lighter itself and works as sort of a shield, I guess. It does say "lighter". Dennis Carpenter, LMC, NPD... all sell replacement kits which contain the lighter and the recepticle for like $30.

Perfect. Thanks!
Reason I was wondering, is someone had one with out the letters on it. They were selling it as a '67.

Interesting, maybe we got something going on here. Hope other '67ers will chime in.

Can you get a pic?

Well... mine does not, either -- it's just a little silver colored nub. I assumed it was an aftermarket replacement for a burned out unit. Maybe not??

mine has no ring but I have seen the same one in Chebys and Dodges of the same vintage so i think it is a replacement part.

I would like to get one with a ring.

Well for those of you who have the lighter with bezel in your 67, does the lettering/bezel match the other knobs?

I've parted out a half-dozen '67s, and they all had the lighter with bezel (and lettering). AFAIK all '67s came with that. If it doesn't, then the lighter has simply been replaced at some point in it's life. The filiment probably burned out and rather than buying a new filiment and installing it on the original lighter, they probably just tossed it and grabbed a replacement out of a different vehicle.
