82 f1000 rpm gauge question

Post by cghstrojan08 »

My 82 f100 rpm gauge doesn't work. How does it hhok up? Also, could I just run new wires for it, and if so, how do I hook it up? I am not worring about cuttin stuff because the original owner has cut lots of stuff on it.

If it's a 82, it's probably a bad wire in the engine harness. Cut the tape
off the harness where it comes from the distributor/coil and look at the
wires inside. Don't worry about that stupid silver thing inside. First place
I would look.

probably a toasted wire going to coil(-) i would just get another and mount it the dash, or on the steering column, like i did on my 83. you'l need a power, a ground and one wire to the coil

I have decided just to sell the truck. There is to may things wrong with it and I will never get my money back out of it. I bought it for $1700 and there is about $700 or $800 of work to be done. Not worth the effort. I love when people lie to you when you want to buy something. I hope he feel good cheating a 17 year old.
