Build Sheets
Anybody know where to find the build sheet(s) in a 1967 or 1969 Ford/Mercury Pickup?
Thanks

re: Build Sheets
I'm not positive, but I found the build sheet from my 68 Fairlane tucked into the springs under the front seat.

re: Build Sheets
In all the trucks I've parted out, I've only seen one, and it was in the seat back, between the springs and foam. I've heard of others who have found theirs there too....but with it being exposed like that, most that would've been put there would've gotten brittle and fallen out a long time ago.

re: Build Sheets
cky enough to find one. I did go to the Ford Customer Service Website and got a "data sheet on my 69. Pretty nice letter from Ford.
https://www.customersaskford.com/Kate/K ... eSite=Ford
I filled out that sheet and put all the VIN data as well as all info from the Data plate...took about 3 weeks and it is free. Something to put with your truck paperwork.

re: Build Sheets
This is a question I was about to ask. I've found a few in different places. In a 72, it was under the middle of the seat; in a 69 F350 it was sitting in plain sight under a spring in the seat back and the most recent was just peeking out between the hog rings at the bottom of the seat back. Gonna start peeling more seat covers, I guess.

My 69 crew cab still has one in the rear searback springs. I never tried to remove it.

re: Build Sheets
Mine had one in the seatback. It was real brittle, and broke apart
into about three pieces...I took it out and put it somewhere...
I forgot where exactly, as I haven't looked for it, but it's around
here somewhere. I considered leaving it, but decided it
would get even worse, as parts were falling out onto the floor, seat
back. So I took it out to protect it from further damage. I have nearly
all the original paperwork for my 74. Detailed build sheet, the works..
My 68 is a K.C truck...My 74 was a Michigan truck. BTW...A weird thing..
I'm not sure, but according to my VIN, my 74 appears to have been
built in two places...Both Michigan Truck, and also Allen Park MI.,
but I'd have to double check that...The first of the VIN is F10ALS.... MK

Re: re: Build Sheets
I'd take that with a grain of salt....they told me that my '67 also had buckets originally, but I seriously doubt that, as trucks with buckets also had the fuel tank cover and trim, and it's obvious my truck never had those.67RED wrote:got my build sheet today from ford. it say's my truck had bucket seats from the factory.pretty cool. now has bench seat

re: Build Sheets
Does anyone happen to have any photos of what the fuel tank cover looks like? Does anyone have one for sale in good shape?they told me that my '67 also had buckets originally, but I seriously doubt that, as trucks with buckets also had the fuel tank cover and trim, and it's obvious my truck never had those.

re: Build Sheets
Here's the only pic I have. This came from someone who contacted me a while back asking if these trucks were ever available with buckets. When I told him they did, he sent pics of the brackets and the fuel tank cover. I spent several days exchanging e-mails with him, helping him out. I told him that they WERE factory and made him an offer for the brackets, rear cover and trim. He decided "they were worth more than my offer" and that he was going to E-bay them. Turns out he got $5 less than my offer!
....and here's a pic saved from Ebay of the trim:
I believe the bottom side of the tank cover was just held down with Velcro.

re: Build Sheets
Do you know, is the tank cover metal or plastic?
Thanks

re: Build Sheets
It's just a chunk of carpet, which matches the carpet installed in the truck. I'm not sure how they determined what to use for a truck with mats instead of carpet, but I'd be willing to guess that when you ordered buckets, you had to get the carpet too, since the mats used in bench-seat applications don't go all the way back to the tank....and so the tank cover would be the carpet color.
