A friend and I have just about finished building a 4'8" sheet metal brake. We built it from materials I had found on a cleanup job, 4 inch angle iron and some heavy wall 3 inch square tubing. We tried to bend some 14 guage yesterday and things flex a bit so we have some reinforcing to do. It worked fine on 18 guage though. I will post some pictures when we get it done and painted.
A 4 footer costs $649 plus tax at Tractor Supply. We have maybe $10 into grinding wheels and welding supplys. And probably a total of 6-8 man hours.
