Have any of you guys tried a chrome or other specialty powder coats on one of these? I'm thinking it would be a relatively easy job with good results. I'm just starting to do a little powder coating and maybe I'll redo the gauge that I painted a couple of years ago.

I haven't yet tried the "chrome" powder coat but I have seen photos on the powder coating forum that I frequent (http://forum.eastwoodco.com/) and they look great. Most cover it with a coat of clear powder coat.

Powder coat Chrome finish looks more like a high polished aluminum. It is a real nice finish, but it is not as bright or reflective as real chrome.

I have a question on these panels.

It appears some of them have 2 switch plateaus on the left (one which usually appears to be wipers) and some that have 3 Switch plateaus on the left (see Tinmans photo above).

What are the year differences, and what could/should those switch plateaus be used for in a stock configuration?

Thanks!

Eric

Can't tell you which year and which spec, but you could use them for manual choke pull, lights, blinkers, fog lights, etc...

I actually have a chrome/black version in my garage that I'll be selling soon. Has some surface rust on chrome and the oil pressure gauge was replaced with a mechanical one. Has the cable driven rpm/tach gauge, but no vacuum gauge.

I am at work and will post pictures later tonight when I get home.

The black and chrome ones are from 73-79. The white ones are from 67-72. I believe the 73-79 version had 2 plateaus and the 67-72 had 3.
