What are the year differences, and what could/should those switch plateaus be used for in a stock configuration?

I don't know what year my gauge panel came from, I bought it from Ebay a while back, but it only had one factory switch on it, a clearance light flasher switch.

The Ebay ad says it is from a 1968 F500

Actually I paid all of 40 bucks plus shipping. The seller gave me a buy it now price and killed the auction with only my bid. Still a killer deal.
