71 Tilt

Post by bossracer »

I just received a report from Ford on my 71 Chassis Cab Super Crew. It states the truck came factory equipped with a Tilt Wheel.

Is this correct? I didn't think Tilt was available until 73. I did some digging through the site here, but didn't really answer the question.

any help?

Ford trucks didn't get a tilt column until '78, and the '78-'79 trucks are the only ones that still had the ignition switch in the dash, so they'll swap into our trucks with very little hassle. Starting in '80 the ignition switch was integrated into the column.

Those reports from Ford are notoriously inaccurate. Heck, the one I got for my '67 stated it came with factory buckets, when it's obvious that it never did. I think virtually everyone I've talked to has found an inaccuracy in theirs, so I'd take that report with a grain of salt. :o
