I just got a seat out of a 76 truck, It was already pulled, but came from one with the XLT or Ranger trim. HAs a fiberboard type rear panel to cover the back, and plastic grommets like things for the seat belts to slide through the center of the seat.
I hadn't seen this info posted before, so thought I'd mention it. As others have posted before, the tracks are riveted to the bottom of the seat frame. Tracks seem identical and have the same spacing on the seat as the 72 and earlier seats.

re: 73-79 seats
Sounds like a crewcab seat that was put in another truck, thats how the 73-79 CC front seats were covered to hide the guts. The 73-79's have a little better cushion and are a hair bigger but fit nicely. We put a 79 in my dads 69, boy was he a pig in sh .

73-79 are a direct bolt in. 80-9? require a little bit of modding.
