Ignition switch key

Post by 1970FordTK »

If you don't have the key to the ignition, is it possible to get the kit from LMC or NPD that has the ignition and doors keyed the same and install them? I have never had to replace a key for an ignition and doors. Is there a thread or a how to teck thing here to explain to a rookie like me how to do this with out tearing up stuff. :? Thanks. :P

Yes... you can get a complete matched key set for ignition/doors from Carpenter, LMC, Macs, and others. A few have them, a few don't. I've also seen "aftermarket" versions on eBay.

Can't help you on actually replacing them, though.

you can cut the key to work the ignition switch & door locks, as long as the locks match. cut one side of the key to the ign switch, one side to the door locks. Test the key & notch one side of the head for whatever function you want to note. Had a key that would run my 68 and 69, back in the day, just kinda hard to remember which side works what, hence the notch

If you're talking about removing and replacing the ignition switch and door locks, there's a lot of discussion on both in several threads. Lots of photos too. If you can't find them, repost and fix you up.

Thanks Jor, I get my truck home this Sunday. I'll take you up on the repost if I can't figure out how to find them. :fr:
