small box near solenoind, my wires have lost there coating and are corroded, the truck starts, runs and charges the battery fine, but I'd like to replace this part of the harness before I run into problems. I'm not sure what that small box beside the solenoid is for.Any help identifying this part would be helpful as it seems slightly melted.
Thanks Doug I* have a nice pic but file size is too large

re: wires in and around solenoid
It's the horn relay. Rewiring that won't have any affect on the truck starting or charging.

Ignore the gizmo under the solenoid, you don't have one of those.

Thanks guys, it all makes sense now my truck was at the shop last year and the mechanic said the horn came on sometime in the night and stayed on 'til the battery died, I will replace the relay and all melted wires.

If he knew the horn was on, why not disconnect the battery?F2FIDDY wrote:Thanks guys, it all makes sense now my truck was at the shop last year and the mechanic said the horn came on sometime in the night and stayed on 'til the battery died, I will replace the relay and all melted wires.
