Whoops, sorry....yes, I was giving it some thought and going over the logistics of such a proposal, and then got sidetracked, and....well, you know how it goes.
When I first started this site, it was basically just to chronicle the restoration efforts for my '67 project...nothing more. This was back when I was still a member at the Dark Side...and in the process of trying to research various things for the project. After getting fed up with how I couldn't get any complete or uncensored answers to my questions over there, and not finding any other viable alternatives, I decided to add my own little forum to the site where we could ask and answer questions freely. To be honest with you, I never really expected it to take off like it has. I'm truly amazed. But it just shows you that people are fed up with the crap they have to put up with over there....and that smaller free sites similar to FORDification but for other generations of trucks are sorely needed.
But keep in mind that creating a website like this is a LOT of work...many, many manhours! It's a huge commitment. For the most part, I'm in front of the computer almost from the time I get home at night until I go to bed, either working on the site or answering questions here on the forum. My computer workspace is set up in the finished basement of our house, and there are a lot of times when my wife and kids are ustairs playing, watching TV together, etc. that I miss out on, because I'm here instead. And although I have a very patient and understanding wife, she's let it be known that she doesn't like all the time I'm on the computer. And when I'm not in front of the computer, I'm at the shop, either working on my truck or taking pictures to be used for a tutorial or to answer forum questions. I have no life, so it works for me.
But I'm a perfectionist, and just want the site and forums to be the best they can be.
Also, you've got to be at least semi-competent with an HTML editor (like FrontPage), a graphics editor (like Photoshop) and to create and maintain a board like this you've got even more (and different) stuff to learn. Plus, I've invested quite a bit of money into buying various related memorabilia (brochure, manuals, etc.) specifically to post to the site to share with you all. This all comes out of my own pocket.
I think something like what you suggest could work as a collaboration from many different people....but it would still be a large undertaking. I'd be willing to help whenever and wherever I can, though.
