Holy Tight Doors, Batman !!!!!

Post by 72stepside »

I replaced the 35 year old weather seal around both doors last night. HOLY CRAP!!! Those babies are tight now.

There was such a difference on the passenger side that I had to adjust the striker bolt farther in to make the door appear to be latched. I didn't realize there was so much slop.

There should be a drastic reduction in wind noise.

How long does it take for the seal to 'settle in' so you don't have to expend so much effort shutting the door?

They do break in after a short while.
I had to get used to shutting the doors with some effert after training myself for so long not to slam them.

roll the window down a little before you close the door. It'll help equalize the air pressure when the door closes.

It took about 6-9months before mine shut with little effort now it like a mild swing with two fingers thing makes a nice solid but effortless thud, the sound make me smile everytime sounds better than the newer trucks door type thud 8) oh bty alittle tip use a good lube on the hinge pins and the latch assy. Also helps the closing.
