Power Brake adjustable pushrod
I just recently attempted to add power brakes to my 69 and followed all suggestions I have read here on the forum.
I first ordered a rebuilt MC drum/drum, and a rebuilt power brake unit. I then went to the junkyard and removed the bracket off of a donor truck. I then began the removal of my MC and disconnected the push rod from the brake pedal. I then realized that the Power booster rod which attaches to the pedal is the adjustable one. The problem is that it comes without the end piece that adjusts and attaches to the pedal. I noticed while at the junkyard that the power brake units there were of the non-adjustable types that would bolt right on to mine, but I really wanted to get a rebuilt one since it is not that much more.
Any ideas on where I can locate this piece, or am I doing something wrong here?

re: Power Brake adjustable pushrod
Yeah I ran into the same problem with my conversion. I had a junkyard booster with the non-adjustable rod and wanted to exchange it for a rebuilt one. Well, the rebuilt ones had the adjustable rod but minus the end that attaches to the pedal. So I crossed my fingers and installed the junkyard booster instead. Got lucky, it works perfectly and the rod was just the right length. Sorry that doesn't answer your question.

There really isn't much to the adjustable end. You should be able to make one using an acorn nut and a short piece of threaded rod or cut off machine screw.
Locktite the threaded rod into the acorn nut. (use red permanent locktite)
Place a jambnut on the assembly.
If my master cylinder ever shows up, I'll get you a measurement booster to rod end.

I thought he was talking about the adjustable end that attaches to the brake pedal, not the rod that goes into the mc.

Oh maybe he is, mine didn't have an adjustable rod on the pedal.68F250 wrote:I thought he was talking about the adjustable end that attaches to the brake pedal, not the rod that goes into the mc.

I don't think any of my parts trucks had an adjustable rod there either. Somebody needs to post a pic.

How about a scan out of the shop manual. On the rebuilts, you don't get the threaded eyebolt.

re: Power Brake adjustable pushrod
Mine definitely doesn't have that (made me go look).
Got a welder?
Wonder if other models from similar years have that type of set up?

If you go to napaonline they show both an adjustable and non-adjustable but if you go in their stores they only have the adjustable.

Both for the same year.
