Not a big fan of the Taurus stuff. I think the explorer version looks better. Here's some pics of a '94 cluster I had laying in the garage with my old bezel. It uses the newer clip on cable for the speedo and the tach pickup should work correctly. SHould fit you bezel better than the Taurus version

While cleaning out the garage I found that and a '89 ranger cluster (same just has red instead of blue highliughts) and a 300 I6 puter ( I thought you were looking for one a while back)

You're right that exploder setup does fit better.
