I went out salvage yard cruising today and found a '71 F-250 C/S with the factory A/C completely intact.
Everything is there, the unit under the dash with the glove box in it, (wood grain trim, no broken fins on vents, no broken plastic)
the factory heater control switch in the dash showing A/C positions,
the lines, compressor, the radiator looking thing mounted on the rad. support, (condensor?)
FE block mounting brackets for the compressor.
I'm fairly sure the crank pulley is still there too!
How much of this should i grab?
I know you guys in the south and west really like your A/C, and if i'm going to tear into this truck, i want to make sure i get everything someone would need.
I know what the guy at the yard quoted me for a price, i would pull it, not those butchers, so i know everything is OK.
Help me out guys, Whats a fair price for the recommended parts?
I know what he told me, I'm curious what you guys are willing to pay.
I'd sell it here, cause i'm not real fond of e-bay.
No sense in pulling it all if i can't at least break even.
Not trying to sound like an @$$... just trying to make sure i won't loose money.
thanks all

Watch ebay and figure realisticly 50-80% of what they go for there. The unit if in really good shape could bring good money to the right person, but I'm in the market for a $80 system for mine...

I think $100 to $150 for everything and I would sell it for $200. You might get $300 on ebay if you cleaned and repainted the brackets.

That sounds right to me.dablack00 wrote:I think $100 to $150 for everything and I would sell it for $200. You might get $300 on ebay if you cleaned and repainted the brackets.
Grab as much as you can, the more the better. If you are not sure, grab it anyway. If a hose is bad, get it anyway so the next guy can use it as a template.
The cleaner you get it before selling it, the more you will get for it. Clean the plastic and re-paint the engine stuff semi-flat black.
